National Cognac Day

7/1/2018

Cognac is a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac, France. Cognac is snooty brandy, and it can take a long time to make. There are videos on the correct way to drink it, and a bottle of Louis XIII Cognac can sell for over $3000. For those of us garage and basement dwelling drinkers, that might be a tad too much. There are a multitude of recipes on the internet for drinks with cognac in them. I found one from everyone's favorite chef and ex-con: Martha Stewart.

Cognac Sparklers by Martha Stewart
(makes 2 - WTF ever)
2 oz. cognac
1 cup chilled sparkling apple cider
a couple dashes of bitters
Put an ounce of cognac in each of two champagne flutes (or whatever glass you choose). Top with sparkling cider and add a dash of bitters.
